Case Study: Stand United Church, Radcliffe, Manchester

At Laser Surveys Limited, we’re thrilled to share a recent success story from a significant and impactful project. The use of Laser Scanning and 3D modelling from our in-house BIM team played a pivotal role in reviving the historic Stand United Reform Church located in Radcliffe, Manchester, helping secure the much-needed planning consent for its restoration and repurposing.

Project Overview

In 2022, our team conducted a topographical survey and measured building survey of the Stand United Reform Church, a stunning Grade II listed building known for its architectural grandeur dating back to 1885. The objective was clear: to create a highly accurate and detailed 3D Revit model to facilitate the church’s transformation into a versatile community space.

Utilising FARO Focus 3D Laser Scanners, we captured a complete 3D point cloud of the church’s intricate features inside and out, from the stained-glass windows to the historic organ and pulpit. This data was used to develop a 3D survey model in Revit to Level of Detail 4 (LOD 4), ensuring every architectural nuance was preserved digitally.

Visual Impact

The detailed 3D visualisations crafted from our data not only highlighted the building’s unique features but also provided a critical tool in our client’s quest for planning consent. These images showcased the potential of this historic structure to be transformed while maintaining its heritage, aiding those involved in envisioning the proposed adaptations without compromising its architectural integrity.
